Terms of Service
These are the ground rules for using Dote, the couples app made by O9Tech ("we", "us"). By using Dote you agree to them. We've kept them short on purpose — the privacy policy covers how your data is handled.
1. Using Dote
Dote is a private space for two people in a relationship. You need to be at least 13 (or the higher minimum age where you live) and old enough to use the App Store's or Google Play's services. One account per person, used honestly.
2. Your content stays yours
Photos, notes, drawings, and everything else you create in Dote belong to you. You give us only the limited license we need to run the service: to host, process, and deliver your content to your partner and render it in your widgets. That license ends when the content is deleted. We claim no other rights to it — no training, no marketing, no reuse.
3. The ground rules
- Don't use Dote for anything illegal, or to share content you don't have the right to share.
- Don't harass or abuse the person you're paired with. Dote has an in-app report and unpair path, and we act on reports.
- Don't spam invites, probe the service for weaknesses, or try to access data that isn't yours.
We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules.
4. Dote Plus
- Plus is offered as an auto-renewing subscription (monthly or yearly, the yearly with a 7-day free trial) or a one-time lifetime purchase.
- Billing is handled entirely by the App Store or Google Play under their terms. Manage or cancel in your store account settings; a cancelled subscription runs until the end of its paid period. Refunds follow the store's policies.
- One purchase covers both members of a paired couple. If the purchasing partner's subscription ends or the couple unpairs, Plus follows the purchaser.
- Prices may change; existing subscribers get notice before any change affects them. On iOS, Apple's standard licensed-application EULA also applies where required.
5. Leaving, unpairing, deletion
You can export your memories, unpair, or delete your account at any time from within the app. Unpairing starts a 30-day grace window during which either partner can invite the other to rejoin; after it, the couple's data is permanently deleted. Details are in the privacy policy.
6. What we can't promise
We work hard to deliver moments in seconds, but widgets and notifications ultimately ride on Apple's and Google's systems, phone batteries, and networks we don't control. Dote is provided "as is", without warranties, and we're not liable for indirect damages. Our total liability for any claim is capped at what you've paid us in the twelve months before the claim (or $50 if you're on the free tier). Nothing here limits rights that your local law says can't be limited.
7. Changes
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll tell you in the app before the change takes effect. Continuing to use Dote after that means you accept the new terms.
